Are symptoms of anxiety holding you back or keeping you awake a night? Do you feel like you put everyone's needs before your own, but this leaves you feeling unhappy or unimportant? Perhaps you feel stuck in a rut and don't know where to start to get out of it? Have you recently experienced a loss and need support? These are just a few examples, of the sort of issues I work with. You don't have to deal with the issue alone, I am here to help you!
I offer Talking Therapy and Hypnotherapy, both online and face to face in my garden office. My clients often tell me, I make talking therapy feel easy, because they are comfortably able to share their experiences. They feel safe and heard. I am very much client led, so you are in charge of what is discussed in sessions, and I tailor your therapy based on your needs. I provide knowledge, techniques and tools to empower you and sometimes set homework between sessions, for reflection. Together we can explore the issue in a confidential space, at your pace. Sessions are relaxed and conversational, with no pressure or judgement. I offer a free introductory call, with no obligation to commit, so we can have a chat to see if we are the right fit and take it from there.
What Type of Counsellor am I?
I am a Pluralistic Psychotherapist, accredited by the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I provide a warm, safe and non-judgemental space for clients to talk openly and freely as they wish, regardless of background or orientation. Working pluralistically means I am not restricted to work in only one modality. I have a range of techniques and methods at my disposal, within the Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive-Behavioural approaches. Please refer to my "Therapy Approaches" page, for further information.
What to expect in your first session?
Once you have enquired about starting your therapy with me, I will arrange your first session. This will run as a standard 50 minute session and will involve us getting to know each other a little bit, helping me understand the issue you are facing. This session helps us to put a plan in place for your future sessions. Sessions are relaxed and conversational with a warm and welcoming feeling.
How many sessions should I have?
I offer short term and long term therapy. It very much depends on your preference. For therapy to have an impact, the recommended minimum number of sessions is between 6-8, normally on a weekly basis. However, I understand that therapy can be expensive, so I am flexible and can offer fortnightly sessions too. I have worked with clients on a longer term basis too, for example over 12 months . This can be agreed in the first session but also, can be discussed at check in points along the way.
What can I help with?
I work with a wide range of mental health issues. Here are just a few examples; Generalised Anxiety disorder, Panic, Depression, Bereavement, Grief, Loss, Relationship problems, Self esteem, Motivation, Self-defeating behaviours, Trauma and many more. Some people can feel 'stuck' or 'lost' in their current situation and not able to pinpoint what the issue is. I can help and assist you to uncover the answers.
Starting therapy can be a daunting prospect, but I can help make this less so with no pressure. Whether you are struggling with panic attacks or you are battling with low self esteem, I am here to help. I believe every individual is their own expert and with the right support, everyone has the ability to change or work through issues they have, whether they are in the past, present or future.
